Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol Misuse is one of the leading causes of disability and death in the world.  In the United States the use of alcohol is common.  In some groups it is so common that it is difficult to say when “normal” use crosses the line into harmful use.  Research shows that alcohol in small amounts may have certain benefits to the vascular system, but in any amount, it damages brain cells.  For many the line between a dose that relaxes and the dose the impairs is very thin.  Even in small amounts it damages judgement.

How do you know if you or someone you love has a drinking problem?  Has your drinking slipped from “normal drinking” to “problem drinking” or even into “alcohol abuse” or “alcoholism?” If you can answer “Yes” to the following questions, you should consider seeking professional advice.

  1. Have you ever felt you should cut down on your drinking?
  2. Have people annoyed you by criticizing your drinking?
  3. Have you ever felt bad or guilty about your drinking?
  4. Have you ever had a drink first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or get rid of a hangover (eye-opener)?

We offer help for those who want to change their alcohol use.  If you or someone you love is unsure if there is a problem with alcohol, we can help you decide what the next step should be.

If you want to quit drinking, but find it difficult or even impossible, we can help with medication and other therapeutic tools to get you on the road to Recovery.

If you are having alcohol withdrawals, we offer outpatient detox that is safe and effective. You can spend the day in our clinic and the evenings at home while you safely go through the detox process.

We offer referrals for counselling for Alcohol Use Disorder and can help you find the therapist best suited to you.
