Dr. Barthel was great. Attentive, understanding, detailed, explained a lot. Relatable, too. Only knock is the early call on Vivitrol after a week off buprenorphine... definitely experienced a rebound of bad withdrawals from the Narcan shot the next few hours acutely and more generally throughout the next 36 hours. Thankfully Dr. Barthel tested with that shot and was understanding when I was leaning in the direction of waiting. I appreciated that.

Dr. Barthel is compassionate and knowledgeable of the real issues that patients with chronic pain and opioid use can deal with and can be very helpful with alternative treatments as I am finding out.

As always my appointment with Dr Barthel went quite well. He has helped me immensely with eliminating both fentanyl and adderall from my prescription drug list. I feel so much better without these meds in my system.

My teleconference was informative. All my questions were answered, and Dr. Barthel had some good ideas In lessening my joint pain in my left leg. I enjoyed the friendly feeling of the appointment in general.

As always Dr Barthel was very attentive, thorough and compassionate. It was a difficult outing for me, my first time out since our little pup Molly passed away and Dr Barthel was so kind even allowing me to play with his pups. I left the office feeling good about the care I received.

As always Dr Barthel was thorough and so willing to spend whatever time I needed to get all my questions answered. He is a fantastic listener and is so patient with all my many questions - I actually hold all other doctors to the standard he has set. The bar is rather high for them to meet!

Careful consideration of treatment but also takes patients assessment and Insights into treatment plan. Not unreasonable but definitely careful/rigid enough to know that your recovery is the priority. I recommend for people serious about their recovery.

I consider Dr Barthel to be one of, if not the most, patient focused physician I have ever encountered. Time and time again, Dr Barthel has proven to be extremely knowledgeable and provides personalized care tailored to the needs of the patient. In most any health / physicians clinic, it’s tough for staff to manage the workload without making patients feel like a number. I have never felt this way about NorthShore Health! From the front counter staff, to the medical assistant to the Dr Himself, you are treated with the utmost of quality care that will certainly enhance or improve your well-being.
